The “Metrobus Project”, which has been implemented for the first time in Turkey, is a urban transit line emerging upon integration of metro and rubber wheel buses on the designated road lanes.
The project which has been realized between Avcılar, Kadıköy and Söğütlüçeşme on Highway D-100, Istanbul’s most dense traffic axis, has a total length of 42 km and comprises 34 stations; it has a daily transport capacity of more than 1 million passengers
In the scope of the project where each stage has been completed in record breaking periods (11 km line between Topkapı and Zincirlikuyu was completed in 77 days) under dense traffic flow, not only metro bus lines have been built but also Highway D-100 transport capacity has been increased by 100 % thanks to arrangements involving lanes, side roads, crossroads and pedestrian passes.
